The Committee for Melbourne is an independent Member network, encouraging a competitive and innovative business culture and enhancing Melbourne's liveability. It engages with Melbourne leaders by stimulating debate and focussing on outcomes that lead to positive change in Climate Change, Higher Education, and Transport for Melbourne.

The organisation was founded in 1985 by a group of citizens concerned that Melbourne was losing its place among the world's great cities. The group's 170 Members represent the most senior levels of Melbourne's major corporations, institutions and organisations.

For the thirteenth year running, the Committee's leadership development program for Melbourne's emerging leaders, the Future Focus Group, embodies their 'ideas to outcomes' ethos with participants initiating and implementing, usually within two years, their own projects to make a tangible, positive difference to the city

More than 150 young leaders have completed the Future Focus Group. Created in 1995, the Future Focus Group aims to develop the leadership skills and commitment of Melbourne's future corporate community leaders.
